The vain and false hopes of the foolish; and dreams give wings to the unwise. The eyes of the Lord are upon those that love Him; He is a mighty Helper and a strong Stay, a covering from the heat and a shade from the noonday.

As one that catches at a shadow, and follows after the wind, so is he that gives heed to dreams. The Lord alone is for those who wait on Him in the way of truth and righteousness. For the Most High is not pleased with the offerings of the wicked, neither by the multitude of their sacrifices does He forgive their sins.

The visions of dreams are as this one over against that one, a likeness of a man before a man.

What can be purified by an unclean thing? And what truth can be spoken by a lie?

Divination, and soothsayings, and dreams, are vain.

The spirit of those who fear the Lord shall live.

For their hope is in their Savior.

He that fears the Lord shall not fear nor be afraid, for He is his hope.

He that fears the Lord, blessed is his soul.

To whom shall he turn? And who is his foundation?

A safeguard from stumbling, and an aid in falling; He lifts up the soul and enlightens the eyes; He grants healing and life and blessing.

He that sacrifices of an ill-gotten gain, his offering is scorned; and the mockeries of sinners are not pleasing.

He that offers a sacrifice of the goods of the poor, is as one that kills the son before the father's eyes.

The bread of the needy is their life; he that defrauds them of it is a shedder of blood.

He that takes away his neighbor's living, kills him.

He that withholds the laborer's hire, sheds blood.

One builds, and another pulls down: what profit have they but toil?

One prays, and another curses; to which of them will the Lord hearken?

He that washes himself after touching a dead body, and then touches it again, what profit is his washing?

So is the man that fasts for his sins, and goes again and does the same; who will hear his prayer? And what has his humiliation profited him?
