The Lord's knowledge distinguished them when He made the sun, which preserveth the rule.

And He diversified the seasons, so that the festivals were celebrated at the appointed hour.

For some of them He exalted and sanctified, and some He put in the number of days. And so all men are from the dust, and Adam was made from the earth.

But the Lord hath distinguished them by the greatness of His knowledge, and hath diversified their ways.

For some He hath blessed and exalted, and some He hath sanctified and brought near unto Him; and some He hath cursed and brought low, and cast them down from their estate.

As clay is in the hand of the potter, and all its works proceed according to his good pleasure.

So also are men in the hand of their Maker, and He rendereth unto them according to His judgment.

Over against good is evil, and over against death is life; so also is the godly and the sinner. And consider all the works of the Most High; you shall find them two and two, one against another.

I, the last, have awaked and inherited these things as they were from the beginning.

As one that gleaneth after the grape-gatherers, I came with the blessing of the Lord, and filled the winepress as he that gathereth grapes.

In all thy works, preserve thine own distinctiveness.

And let no blemish be upon thy dignity. Divide thy inheritance at the end of the days of thy life, when death is at hand.

Fodder and a whip and a burden for the ass; and bread and discipline for a servant.

Employ thy servant in work, and thou shalt have rest; slacken thy hand from him, and he will seek liberty.

The yoke and the thongs bend the neck, and constant work subdueth a servant.

For a wicked servant, chastisement and torture. Compel him to work, lest he be idle.

For idleness teacheth many kinds of mischief.

And if he flee away, by what way shalt thou seek him?
