O death, how bitter is the remembrance of thee to a man that liveth at ease, and is prosperous in all things, and is able to take meat!

To him that is secure among his possessions, whose way is not hindered, and who can enjoy his food.

O death, accepteable is thy sentence unto the needy, and unto him whose strength faileth,

That is now in all manner of travail, and hath no more hope, and is impatient.

Fear not the sentence of death: remember those that have been before thee, and those that come after; for this is the sentence of the Lord over all flesh.

And why art thou against the pleasure of the Most High? whether ten, or a hundred, or a thousand years, there is no reckoning in the grave of life.

There is no reckoning of life in the grave.

The children of sinners are abominable children, and they that frequent the houses of the ungodly.

The inheritance of sinners' children shall perish, and have perpetual reproach among their posterity.

The children of a wicked father complain of him, for they are put to shame because of him.

Woe unto you, ungodly men, who have forsaken the law of the Most High God!

For if ye be born, ye shall be born to a curse; and if ye die, a curse shall be your portion.

All that is of the earth shall return to the earth: so the ungodly go from a curse to destruction.

The mourning of men is for their bodies: but the name of sinners shall be blotted out.

Have regard to thy name; for that shall continue with thee above a thousand great treasures of gold.

A good life hath but few days: but a good name endureth for ever.

Keep discipline in peace, O ye children. But as for wisdom that is hid, and treasure that is not seen, what profit is in them both?

Better is he that hideth his folly than a man that hideth his wisdom.

Be ashamed of what I tell you.

For it is not good to be ashamed of every thing; nor is every thing approved that is produced with prudence.

Be ashamed before father and mother of fornication; and before a prince and a mighty judge of lying;

Before the judge and ruler of your fault; before the congregation and people of transgression;

Before the partner and friend of unrighteousness; and before the place wherein thou dwellest of theft;

And of violating the truth of God and His covenant; and of leaning thine elbow upon the bread; and of deceit in giving and receiving;

And of silence to those who salute thee; and of gazing upon a harlot;

And of turning away thy face from thy kinsman; and of wrongfully withholding thy portion and gift;

And of looking carnally upon a woman that is married; and of dallying with her maid upon her bed; and stand not by her;

And of upbraiding remarks before friends; and of reproach after giving; and of repeating what thou hast heard; and of revealing that which was spoken secretly.
