She preserved the first-formed father of the world, when he was created alone, and delivered him from his fall,

And gave him strength to rule over all things.

But when the unrighteous departed from her in his wrath, he perished in the fury of his fratricidal rage.

When the earth was overwhelmed by the flood on account of him, Wisdom again saved it, by guiding the righteous man in a humble wooden vessel.

When the nations conspired together in evil, she found the righteous man and preserved him blameless before God, and kept his heart steadfast from his offspring.

She delivered the righteous man from the perishing ungodly, when he fled from the fire descending upon the five cities.

Of whose wickedness a smoke still ascends, and a plant bears fruit that ripens not, and a pillar of salt stands as a memorial to an unbelieving soul.

For those who neglected Wisdom, their injustice did not confine their ignorance of righteousness to themselves, but they left behind for men a memorial of their folly, so that they could not conceal wherein they erred.

But those who served Wisdom were delivered by her from all tribulations.

She guided the righteous man who fled from his brother's wrath in straight paths, and showed him the Kingdom of God, and gave him knowledge of holy things, and prospered him in his labors, and multiplied the fruits of his works.

When he was assailed by greedy accusers, she stood by him to help him and enriched him.

She guarded him from his enemies and protected him from those who lay in wait for him, and gave him victory in sore conflict, that he might know that godliness is more powerful than all things.

She forsook not the righteous when he was sold, but preserved him from sin, and went down with him into the pit.

And in bonds she did not leave him, until she delivered him the sceptre of the kingdom and authority over those who oppressed him, and showed them to be false who slandered him, and gave him everlasting glory.

She delivered a holy people and a blameless offspring from the nation of their oppressors.

She entered the soul of a servant of the Lord, and resisted fearful kings with wonders and signs.

She rendered to the holy their reward for their labors, and guided them in a marvellous way, and was a shadow to them in the daytime, and a light of stars in the night.

She brought them through the Red Sea, and led them through the great waters.

But their enemies she drowned, and cast them up from the deep of the gulf upon the shore, so the righteous spoiled the ungodly.

And they sang praises to Thy holy name, O Lord, and gave thanks with one accord to Thy victorious hand.

For Wisdom opened the mouths of the dumb, and made the tongues of infants eloquent.
