1

Now Mordecai, at that time, served in the king's palace, along with Bigthan and Teresh, two of the king's eunuchs, who were gatekeepers of the court.

2

And after he learned of their intentions and diligently investigated, he discovered that they sought to lay hands on King Artaxerxes, so he reported this to the king.

3

Then he put them under torture, and they confessed, so he commanded that they be put to death.

4

And the king inscribed what had occurred in the book of the chronicles; likewise, Mordecai also recorded the remembrance of the matter.

5

Then the king commanded him to reside in the king's house and bestowed upon him gifts, because he had made this known to him.

6

Now Haman the son of Hammedatha, the Agagite, held great honor with the king; and he sought to harm Mordecai and his people because of the two eunuchs who had been slain.
