O Holy Father, Who lovest the return of sinners, and Who hast promised that Thou art ready to receive them. Look now, O Lord, upon a sinful soul that has strayed and wandered in the valleys of disobedience for a long time, wherein it has been embittered and felt its wretchedness, due to its distance from the fount of its salvation.

Now it approaches Thee, entreating Thee to cleanse it from the defilements and impurities in which it has wallowed. Accept it and reject it not, for if Thou lookest upon it with Thy tenderness and dealest with it according to Thy mercy, it shall be cleansed and saved; but if Thou neglectest it, it shall perish and be destroyed.

Grant me, O Lord, grace, that I may be strengthened to draw near to Thee with steadfast faith and complete hope, to confess my sins and to abhor returning to them. And let Thy Spirit convict me of my iniquities.

Enlighten my heart that I may see how much I have erred and sinned, abandoned and neglected. And grant me resolve not to return to sin, that I may persevere in keeping Thy commandments and live for the glory of Thy Holy Name. Amen.
